I did a search, couldn't find anything so I have to ask!

Tell me more about the "classics"? Anyone buying any? How are they? I want an older 57 in a 4", hard to buy one on line, FFL"s are getting scarce here. I haven't found one at a gun show in two years, so I am about to give up and look into ordering one of the "classics" in a 57.

What say ye????

I saw a new-looking blue .44 Special at a gun show in December for $550. I didn't see it in February. I should have bought it, but really wanted a nickel version. Those classics list for over $900.

I have a 5" Mod 29 Classic, and I love it. Looks great, very tight lock-up and shoots like a dream. Best of luck on your search.

I've got a 4" 21-4 Classic (.44Spl) in nickel. Love it. It's my go-to sidearm during hunting season. Hefty, accurate, and throws a serious load. (I handload a bit hot for it.)

I'm not going to get into the lock debate - the Classics have them, that's the way it is.

I just saw a 657 Classic at our club's swap meet and there was no internal lock. It was a 6" power port model with the smooth cylinder. I think the guy wanted somewhere in the area of $5-600.

If I were in the market for a new S&W Classic, I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

Get the gun that you want!

If you search in the "1980 to Present" category, you will find some data.
This thread would get more response there, so I will move it in a few minutes.

Welllllll I thought I would go with a classic 57 versus, waiting until I die to find a face-to-face older 57, until I got a price on one today! Almost $900 delivered!
