Default New SW revolver manufacturing

Hey all,

I have recently started expanding my collection of SW revolvers.

Eventually I will be writing a series of reviews of them for forum newcomers and us oldies alike.

I am buying brand new ones.

So I've noticed SW is changing how they mark their logo, "made in usa", "44 magnum", etc

It used to be all stamped, then they started laser etching logos, then some new models (M610,M66, etc) have stamped logos.

My brand new 586 classic has a mixture of etching and stamping.

The logo and "made in usa" have almost like the laser burned on etched look. Much more prominent and durable looking than the typical laser etching we see.

"Smith and Wesson" and "S&W .357 Magnum" on the barrel look like normal stamping.

Anyone else with brand new Smiths can look and see if theirs has similar changes?

I saw a 629 3" on GB that appears to be all laser etched.

I'm just really curious about this new technique.
