Just trying to figure it out. I was watching the auction all week. It started at $500 the guy (who is here in Nashville) had a $850 reserve. I know they are low production and pre lock but WOW. The gun is at $1200 and still has time left to bid. I was hoping to get it, but can't pay that much for a used gun with no warranty.
Do the 2 5/8" Lou horton models go for the same amount?

Hey, This price appears to be a good deal for a gun like that...I would have expected it would have gone for much much more. like $1500.00 plus...The Bloodworks guns are woth $2000.00 plus...N frame snubbies are growing more and more expensive.

kwikrnu:

Some of the pricing of the older guns have been driven upward by the perception that a pre-lock and pre-mim firearm is better than the newer ones. Couple this with the fact that the older guns are becoming more and more scarce...the asking price is higher.

I only have one N-Frame snubbie, a 25-2 Jovino. I only paid $500 for it but would have gladly paid more if necessary. You are the only one that you would have to justify a price to. Bottom line, if you want it, get it.

Price is determined by simple supply and demand. Short barrel N-Frames have always enjoyed premium prices. This was established by collectors years ago, as most short barrels were holstered and used, so nice examples are harder to find then the same model with a longer tube. Demand is the population willing to pay the price. There are many rare, limited run guns out there, but no population competiting for the model, such as the short barrel V-comp you inquired about. The sale at $1200 was in my opinion a good deal, I think the V-comp has more to offer then the UDR, but the UDR has a large population demand. Last thought, look at the prices of the prewar .357 magnum, there were over 5000 made. Most of the modern pre-lock PC guns number only in the hundreds.

I watched that auction also and if I had not just bought a LNIB dual cylinder Bloodworks last month I would have paid up to 1750 or so for it myself. I was surprised it went for so low actually...very limited run PC gun...

I also was watching, but I too bought one of the "bloodworks" guns. Paid more than I should have, but I WANTED it. When I took delivery I found out that my wanting was well deserved. I would have paid 2K for the 3" if I had had the cash. A 3" 627 is absolutely ideal I think, especially cut for moon clips as is the Bloodwork gun.
1aafan, I assume the dual cylinders are smooth and fluted, not different caliber?
