Lost my M640-1 pro, but had a great daddy-daughters range day
First, a little background: my wife and I came up to Tallahassee with our youngest daughter who just graduated high school and will be starting school here in the fall. Since Ensign Lawler has embarked on his Naval career and taken his firearms with him, our oldest daughter has been up here alone and looking forward to having her baby sister move up. I took the two of them to the range for some refamiliarization with firearms and to let them pick one out for home defense. I let them try several with an emphasis on DAO revolvers. I was leaning towards a M342 and they both liked it(and both like revolvers in general anyway), but weren’t too happy about the recoil despite the fact that I had them shooting 148 grain HWBC’s loaded to about 800fps. On a whim, I pulled out my EDC M640-1 pro and both their eyes lit up. I let both of them try it with the same wadcutters and they both said “we want that one”. Oh well, I’m going to have to find another EDC I guess. That’s Faith on the right with her baby sister Sierra towering over her.

Way to go dad. And, that’s a great firearm for the ladies. I’m quite fond of the centennial series 640s.

Tom, you will run out of guns quick when they start giving you grandchildren. Joe

I have a better solution to the problem. When my daughter likes one of my guns, I buy another one for her.

The good Lord gave us daughters (or in my case, nieces) as yet another excuse to find more guns so we can provide each with the perfect fit! Bless you.

They’re smart! A lightweight revolver is unnecessary and maybe even a drawback for home use, and the much heavier 640 Pro would be a lot more fun to practice with, so all the way around they chose wisely. Great picture!

Your two gals' good taste in a revolver came from a good role model.
Way to go, Dad.

You got off easy. Mine choose my P365SAS. I was hoping she’d opt towards my 642

I don’t know about that! Have you priced a M640-1 pro lately? They’re pretty scarce. And with a set of CT grips that are currently like $400, though I only paid around $200. I’m not complaining though. I want them to feel comfortable with what they chose and safe knowing they could defend themselves if needed.

Thanks Jimmy
My older daughter just turned 21 and is going to apply for one.

I gave it a good cleaning after yesterday’s range trip and took a couple of last photos of it. Gonna miss it. It was my almost exclusive EDC for over four years.

I've seen the 637's with CT grips in local stores. Basically the same gun with the exposed hammer.

Very nice! I had a set of crimson trace grips on a 642 I once owned. Stupidly sold them when I sold the gun. I carried my 640 no dash today. I should have kept those grips. I can’t stand a laser on a polymer gun. Looks like a tumor growing on them. The grips are the way to go. No need to change holsters.
Your daughters look like responsible young ladies. You surely did something right! I wouldn’t even consider giving my kids a gun as a loss! As long as they give it back to me if they decide they want something else! They’re not using a gifted gun from their old man as training fodder at pennies on the dollar!

Any steel frame Chief is a great choice, but the 640 Pro's DAO action and night sights make it the best of the best. (Notice my avatar!)
Those young ladies made a wise choice.
Congats on raising smart kids.
