617 primer hits (look OK?)
Using Federal ammo, full main spring starting to have misfires. Do these firing pin hits look sufficient?

Got End Shake? I had a m18 would not fire reliably until I cured the end shake.

Those are very light hits!! My guess is that you have either excessive end shake or a bad firing pin. Rim fire cartridges need a good solid hit to go bang/those are not solid hits.

Thanks all...no end shake. I need to locate a source for another pin...are the pins specific to the 617 or will any frame pin work?

What I can see of your pin looks good. My 1st suspect would be you need a better cleaning. Do the cartridges easily drop in completely? any carbon buildup under the hammer, etc internally?

They look good to me. End shake but also check your mainspring and see if the strain screw is loose. It has to be tight for .22s to go off.

Also, it's a good idea to clean out the firing pin tunnel once in a while, especially on .22s. Just pull the firing pin and spring, clean out with a Q tip, and reassemble.

What Oink say's and Protocall in post #10 ,good advice !
Get the fireing pin channel and all other nook's and crannies cleaned and lightly lubed ( RemOil is good ) the build up of crud might be cushioning the pin's strike ...
22's are dirty ammo and stuff get's into all the crannies easily .
Over time it builds up ... use a tool to scrape out build up if needed .

Thanks guys...my first 22 revolver...will give it a good pin cleaning. Can anyone recommend a source for a non MIM pin?
BTW: Some reading indicates that a non MIM pin might be a better choice?

I'll echo what everyone said about cleaning the gun. Some rimfire revolvers require more attention in that area than others. What I'll add is try different ammo. There is a lot of variance between brands and some guns just perform better than others with certain brands. You have a great gun and it should perform fine with a little attention. Before you get into changing out mim parts or other mods, try the low impact things like what is being talked about in this thread. I think you'll find your answer.
