Default Ever see a 3” 617 , engraved ? Updated 10-11

I always wanted an engraved S&W but I didn’t have the patience to wait when I sent one off. I also didn’t want to go through the process and frankly the expense. I found a guy , 20 miles from me who was super fast , very reasonable and I went to his house to drop it off and pick it up. If you are around Louisiana or don’t mind sending it , Eddie Viola of Smoke Wagon Engraving is hard to beat.
I had this custom 3” 617-4 that I got from James Brewster and I thought it would be the ideal candidate. Jeff Ellis did the grips for me. I’m very happy with the results.

Very nice Manny....

I've never seen a 3" M617, much less an engraved 10 shot model...

Question, how is the front sight base attached? Is it using one of the aftermarket bases that Weigand used to offer?

Very cool...

I think so Rob. The work had been done when I got the gun.

If that is the case, the front sight blades are interchangeable, right? Like the S&W Classic front sight.
So, before someone else asks.... how's it shoot? Just kidding, that's a mighty nice collectible, congrats...

Beautiful while a showpiece for sure, I wouldn’t hesitate to use it as a field gun or BBQ gun
A nice holster is in order, might I suggest simply rugged an exotic skin would be the ticket

Beautifully done. Elegant and tasteful. That is a gun anyone would be proud to own.

That is cool. That is an interesting scroll concept. I've never seen anything quite like that. Pretty.

If you don't mind me asking, what's "reasonable" for engraving? Up this way, Flannery would be around 1K or so for that.

Wow! That’s really nice. Just when I think I’m getting more S&W educated, I see something like this. I didn’t know they made a 3”.

Wow that sure is a good looking pistol. I am not trying to be nosy, just wondering if I could afford some engraving like that on my S&W 617. Is it really big money ? Marty
