This is a thread that I imagine will take one answer.
What exactly is a pinned barrel?
I've tried doing my own research and all I keep finding are references to pinned barrrels in guns for sale but not what it is.
Thanks

Pinned barrels have a machined "flat" on a spot in the threads. Once the barrel is installed (screwed into) on the frame, a small pin is driven into one side of the frame and it comes out flush with the other side of the frame. It holds or "pins" the "flat" area and prevents the barrel from turning

Have barrels been turning since they stopped pinning them?

I have not had a problem with them turning in my S&Ws or any of the other brands (Ruger, etc.)

As I understand it, they are designed so that the threads are deformed enough so that the barrels are locked into place.
I think they actually use the term "Crushed". So no easily interchangeable barrels like some of the Dan Wessons.
