Model 586-4 finally got shot and earned new shoes
I acquired this M586-4 about 4 years ago. I FINALLY got to shoot it a few weeks ago. I did not have to adjust the sights at all for full power .357s. I was pleasantly surprised for a tight group in the black from my first cylinder full. After I got home, I decided it deserved my favorite type of factory stocks (smooth football targets). It had come with the correct factory "loader cutout" checkered targets. I had no smooth on hand not already spoken for, so I had to go shopping. I found the pair in the picture on auction and slapped my "max willing to pay" bid on them. I ended up with them for a nice bit under that. Now I have a "new" gun I know I can hit what I aim at with a 158 slug going about 1300 FPS ...... If my geriatric eyes can see it AND the sights at the same time !!

Nice 586. The L-frames of that vintage shoot exceptionally well.

Very nice! Picked up a 586-4 in 2019 , also a 4", one of the most accurate centerfire revolvers I've ever owned.

S&W really did hit a home run with the L-frame 357.

There’s a member of this forum named bigmtnman. Perhaps you’ve heard of him. He does beautiful custom grips at reasonable prices. If I were you I’d buy a pair of his “barky” elk antler grip with medallions.

That is exceptional. Probably my favorite L-frame and grip combination.

Agreed. They are fine handguns.
