I finally found the 696 that I have been looking for. I thought I might replace my well used 625 with it as my nightstand gun.
Some times I bring out the 627x8 PC for a overnight but she soon goes back in the safe as the Queen.
So, which would you have next to your bed, the 696 with speedloaders or the 625 with moonclips
Or, what is your choice of your guns..

Given those options, I'd take the 625.
When mine comes back from the PC, that's where it will be. I like the speed of a moonclip reload.
Your 625 looks like one of the 300 of the -6's that were made.

No such thing as "Which is best?" Any one of them would easily get the job done.

My 696 sits in the nightstand behind me as we speak, filled with Speer Gold Dot 200GR JHP .44 Specials. I'm armed enough, but I have other back-up guns available too.

My new nightstand gun is a 24-3 3". I bought it used and put it up several years ago. I finally got it out, put a set of Spegel boot grips, Meprolight Nite Sites and filled her with the 200gr Gold Dots. I like it !!!!!!

My nightstand gun is a Sig P226 in 40 S&W most of the time and when it's not it's my 686 with 158 grain Hydra Shok's.

While I like the 696, for the nightstand I would go for 8 shots vs 5.

You win with either of the three. Mine is a 696, but I'd feel great having 1 more in .45, or 3 more in .38/.357? So, I'm with ENH.

I love my 696 but would prefer the 625 with 6-45ACP's as a nightstand gun.

You go with what you are most familiar with, the one that fits your hand like a glove and you could work in your sleep.

It is a 625-6...What is the signifigance of it, is it a special run by some company?
Of all three the 625-6 is the one that feels right. I have shot it a lot and carried it a lot. It is a workhorse.
The 696 is the new kid on the block and the 627x8 is a pampered Queen. I like them all so I guess I will just have to rotate them.
Thanks,
K.
