I installed one in my 2.75"" 66 as part of doing a trigger job.
After polishing everything that moved, I installed a spring kit.
Installing the longer firing pin only made sense to maintain reliability.

I tried one in my 617, which was having issues with light strikes. Coupled with an Apex Mass Driver hammer, reliability was worse with the extended fp.

I have the C&S pin in a 646 used for competition. I recently bought the APEX pin to replace it, only because C&S cautions NOT to dry fire their pin, at the risk of breakage.
The original S&W pin was visibly shorter than needed.
When I originally set up the 646 for competition about 15 years ago, there was a problem with reliable ignition.

I've heard messing with rim fires is another world. Luckily non of my rim fires have needed any trigger work, except my Colt Walther 1911/22, which was just like tinkering with any 1911.
