Can anyone venture an educated ballpark figure on how many Model 657 Classic Hinter II's were produced. Mine is stainless, 7 1/2" dash 4.
Thanks

The 657-4 7.5" was introduced in 2001 and then in 2002 it became the 657-5 with the internal lock. Although the SCS&W says the IL came out in 2001 too.

So, the -4 7.5" was produced for approximately a year.

It wasn't a distributor exclusive run that would have required a 250 minimum. It was a production run, but I don't know how many were produced.

The original Classic Hunter II, product code 103948, was a 6 1/2" revolver with an unfluted cylinder and a single expansion chamber compensator (also called Power Port). This was a distributor exclusive offering of 500 pieces, I can not recall which distributor it was for.

Is your 7 1/2" actually marked Classic Hunter II? I will have to look at the other side of mine when I get home tonight.

My 7 1/2" revolver is product code 163946 however their appears to be a 103946 that is a 7 1/2" 657 as well. This was a cataloged revolver, not a limited production firearm for one of the big distributors.

It is easy to know how many of a Distributor exclusive configuration were made because that have to be ordered up front. It is very hard to know how many of a production configuration are made because the factory can always turn out another 50 here, 100 there as the years pass. It is lost of work to add up those numbers and keep records of them for us enthusiasts.

Guess I messed up! Mine is a six and a half incher unfluted. Four digit serial number preceeded by CDE. Must be one of 500?

It must have the power port, then? Mine's CDE48XX. One of the 500 that Colt_SAA mentioned.

Correct. It is Power-Ported. It is a remarkable handgun in all respects. Would like to know it's value but have never seen one for sale. I know I would not part with mine!
