Have dug thru the discussions on adjustable front sights as best I could navigate the search function; However, would appreciate it if someone could provide the text (if any) from factory instructions on the adjustment methods. Have procured one in silhouette configuration, AAMXXXX, (era ?), without instructions, tools or accessories and would also like to know what accompanied the gun from the factory.
I am sure I could fumble thru the process but it is always nice to know the proper steps, plus it's much faster.
None of the manuals I tried to look up had any info on the front sight.
Thanks
Al

I do not have any printed instructions, but from memory; position the rear sight at about 50% of elevation availability. Sight in at 1st distance moving only the adjustment on front sight, then 2nd, then (etc.). You will find you will have to tweak the rear a little most probably. It is a little time consuming, and you don't want to be changing loads often and re-doing it all over again. It was intended for the metallic Silhouette distances, 50m, 100M, 150M, 200M. I may have an article in an old Shooting Times magazine if you can't get instructions from S&W website.

Elevation of the front sight positions is adjusted with a very small allen wrench inserted in the holes by each sight number. Use the wheel to select the sight number then sight in for each distance. My 29-3 has the non-fluted cylinder and is a "Classic Hunter". I also have a 686 with this "Hunter" front sight.

After contacting S&W by email, received a copy of revolver instructions with their model no. 29 instructions S&W 03273 with (brief) instructions on the 4 position front sight. The allen wrench is a 0.050" for the socket head setscrews for each numbered screw and wheel position. Recommended start position for rear sight is 2 -2 1/2 turns or 12 - 15 clicks up. they make no recommendation on which screw to use for what range so my guess that each wheel position was the same thickness is probably correct. The only caution provided is that the front sight not be raised to far with any setting to ensure the wheel is not jammed in the sight base at it's maximum elevation sy any set screw.
S&W response was quick and received the copy of the instructions in several days.
Hope this helps someone else and thanks for the input.
