How rare are these revolvers? My father bought one from his neighbor and it has black pachmeyer grips.

SCSW says 200 reportedly were made in 1998 with round butt, possibly only 150. I believe they came with RB combat grips.

I think that the SCSW may have missed a run of 3 inch 657s. I run across them far more often than a single run of 200 would make possible. There are two up for auction on GB right now. Prices are pretty high though.

Can't tell ya but my 657 LH is KA. Use it occasionnaly for a winter CCW. Took the combats off as they don't fit my hand, are expensive to replace and slapped on a Hogue Monogrip.
Great revolver and caliber!

There was a run of 3 inch 657's in 1986, but don't know/think they were Hortons. This according to SCSW.

I'm just basing what I said on my personal obsevations. I've been seeking 4" 657s for years. Until last year I owned every one I ever saw, and have two. I probably run across ten 3 inchers for every 4 incher I've seen. Unless I'm incredibly lucky, 3" guns cannot be that scarce.
