Picked up a brand new or near new 586 L Comp pre-lock, with PC case, moonclip coverted, seven shot, with night sights for $650 at the gun show today.
Absolutely mint condition with all original paperwork. Did I do good?

I will take some pics later, still have to post my 66-4 3" custom from Gemini and my 60-9 pre lock custom from Gemini. So basically, better get some new batteries for the camera. Here is the best part, there was a line outside the gunshow that wrapped nearly around the building. It was a 45 minute waite to get in. No one was looking at revolvers, only assault rifles. However I don't need any more rifles and came across this little gem. The guy said he paid something like $600 for it eleven or so years ago.

"Did I do good?" Rhetorical question I suppose??
There are at least 10 of us on the Forum who would gladly mud wrestle you for the priviledge of taking that one off your hands.
Don't tease. Get the gear and show us some shots!

$775 to 900 bucks is the norm. Like we said, you got a deal on it.

I've seen the ones with the lock on the side for that much. This one is pre-lock.

Last night I did some searching, the ones with the locks are in the $900 range, the pre-lock models were in the $1600 range.

The only one that would try to get $1600.00 is Fugate.

Well considering a Lock model goes for around $850 on up then I'd say Fugate isn't out of line. He actually has one listed for $1800 pre-lock. I would however put the value at around $1600. I've never seen one prior in person. It's not like Smith will ever make these again so it doesn't make sense to price one at the same level that the lock models go for. Cheers to capitalism.
Anyway, I think I finally have my winter carry revolver. This thing is awesome. I packed it tonight with some 158 gr JHP's on the moonclips provided. It's a little heavy but having seven rounds instead of six is worth it.

Great revolver. I'd hang on to it and use it. It will always be worth more than the IL L-comp, even used.
I have the PC pre lock 586-5 L-comp. It is fun to shoot, but I prefer K-frames for carry. Enjoy your L-comp! Regards 18DAI.

I am half tempted to sell it. I looked it over some more and not sure if it was actually fired. It had a light turn line but no carbon or ring on the inside of the frame.

Nice 66-4 F comp, personally I wouldn't sell it. Wish I had an F Comp but have this custom 66-4 instead.

$650 is a really, really good price. There are new ones with the IL going for anywhere between $800-1000 online. The fact yours is so clean and pre-IL makes it even a better deal. I agree that if Mr. Fugate had it, he would be asking at least $1600 for it.

Or maybe it was the fact that I didn't feel comfortable sending someone that much money that is also negotiating with Matt Fugate for the gun. Once you told me on the phone that Matt Fugate made you an offer, I felt like bailing on the deal.
Also, This could have been handled off line. I wasn't going to mention you dealing with Fugate until you decided to bring this publicly to the forum.
I'm not going to get in a pissin' contest with you on this forum either. I'm done and I'm not buying your gun! Maybe Matt Fugate can get it now ???

First you welch on your offer then insult me.
I had zero intentions on selling this revolver, just was proud that I found a good deal. Then you made two public offers and later welch in private. Figured I'd just go ahead and bring this right here where it all started.
You sent me some e-mail angrily telling me to just keep the thing, about how the shipping was to much after I sent you an invoice direct from USPS to show you the exact amount. You could have simply asked me to split shipping if it were that big of a deal but instead you insult me saying I was trying to gouge you and welch on your offer. Rediculous. In my estimation, you should be kicked from this forum over this matter alone. As a man when you make an offer you stand on it and it should be as good as a handshake. My word is my bond and as such when I accepted your two public offers then this revolver was yours as far as I was concerned.
Finally what does Matt have to with anything? I simply talk to the guy because I buy stuff from him, so don't sit there and try to paint the situation as something it was not because the revolver was yours pending payment.
Good day sir.

I've seen a number of his sales on gunbroker. The guns are usually premium but even at that the prices are just astronomical. Does he actually SELL them for those prices?
