I edited this, earlier I thought it was laser engaved competitor.
Ran across a 6.5" 629-5, unfluted cylinder, matt stainless finish, mim parts, no lock, and what looks like a Millett target sight, no outline, changeable patridge looking front sight.
New old stock according to the dealer. Neat looking gun, of course I had never seen one, anyone know about these?

Special model?
The models with unfloted cylinder and bead blasted surface are very common in Germany. It was in the past a special model of German importing company Wischo, today it is Waimex that spread these models. My first S&W was a 686 in this style. I bought it 1995. I have just ordered a 629 as Classic Champion Match Master. If you keep in mind that Nill is a German supply of grips maybe you have seen a re-imported gun from the German market. Actuall models can be find at Home
Go to catalouge page 79. maybe this will help a little.

Unfluted cylinders, a set
These are the ones I have found. The cylinder on the 5" M629 was changed out to match the others. All of these are square butts. None had a matte bead-blast finish. The original grips were changed to Hogue finger groove grips to fit my hand.
There is a M629 round butt, 7-1/2" barrel with bright polish and interchangeable front sights that is typically listed as "One of Three-Thousand" . The asking price is $1,000 to $1,400 and the eventual selling price is $900 to $1,100 depending on the buyer.

"waidmanns heil" germanshooter, I want to welcome you to the forum. Where are you located in Germany? I spent 3 wonderful years working in Stuggart Germany with the US Army.
