Not exactly a S&W, but I found a Dan Wesson 32-20 today, can anybody venture a guess for market value. 6" blue, vent rib, & 98/99%. First one I've seen & can't seem to find one in that caliber for sale, is there a premium for the caliber?

We haven't negotiated a price yet...he didn't know what it's worth & neither did I. I was thinking $325, he was suggesting up in the $400's...

Does it have the proper tools with it...if not, $40 - $50 more to get these from DW or on the net. What about grips, originals? Extra grips? Box?

Same questions you would ask about a S&W. See if you can get it for $325.

Love my model 15 BTW.

I think the price of DW's also depend some what on the caliber, just because some have more use or perceived value. I don't think $400 is too high if the caliber is right for you and the gun is 95% or better. I paid $400 for a 98% model 15 357 and think I paid a fair price for both parties.

I personally love the DW revolvers for their triggers, simple mechanicals, and removable barrels. The ability to adjust the barrel cylinder gap is or would be very important for a competition shooter. Sure makes it easy to clean above the forcing cone also. Also they are built like tanks and probably will take a worse beating the any S&W could ever take.

PS: Just paid $395 for a SS 22 lr model in 98% condition and feel like I paid a fair price even though I only paid $5 less for it then my Model 15 357 HV6 pistol.

44wheelman,
Sir, if you want a DW in THAT caliber...buy it. You'll most likely never find another.

I would not let it walk for $450.00

Where have you ever seen one? I've never seen one and I'm ALWAYs sniffing around for DWs.

Good luck. I have a pair of DW .357s and love them both. Great guns.

Bob

I do not know that much about DWs but I would be suprised they would make a 32-20 I think what you are looking at is probably a rechambered 32 mag .This is not a bad thing ,just not a factory gun.I find the 32-20 more fun to reload and shoot anyway.Real fun could start if you could find another 32mag cyl. and get it punched out to the new 327. Like I said ,I don't have facts, just guessing.

I read some time back that the DW 32-20 is one of the DW line that had very few made in that caliber and that they made a couple other odd calibers aslo, that is not counting custom guns they made for individuals in some odd calibers. I will have to see if I can find that info again.

They also made a 32 H&R, but somewhere I read that 32-20 was made in smallest number. The sad thing is there is no sure way to tell as the records did not survive all the change of owners. The only ones who would kbow is the FEDs and I doubt they would release the records without some effort.

Models starting with a 7 are stainless guns.
Service models had fixed rear sights
Target models have adjustable rear sights

Small frame models
8-2 (.38 Special) Service
9-2 (.38 Special) Target
11 (357 Mag) Service Pork Chop
12 (357 Mag) Target Pork Chop
14 (357 Mag) Service Pork Chop
14-2 (.357 Mag) Service
15 (357 Mag) Target Pork Chop
14 (357 Mag) Service
15 (357 Mag) Target
15-2 (.357 Mag) Target
22 (22LR) Target
22M (.22 Win. Mag) Target
32 (32 H&R Mag)
3220 (32-20 Winchester)
708 (.38 Special) Service
709 (.38 Special) Target
714 (.357 Mag) Service
715 (.357 Mag) Target
722 (.22 Long Rifle) Target
722M (.22 Win. Mag) Target
732 (32 H&R Mag) stainless
73220 (32-20 Winchester) stainless
738P (38Sp +P)

Having to edit it this many times to correct my mistakes mean it is past my bed time.

Told the guy $325 was all I'd give for it, & he took it! Oh, it had no tool or box.

Not rechambered from something else, as the barrel is stamped 32-20, and the serial number starts 32-20. I thought it was an oddball- I was just hoping it was worth premium. Great, now yet another cartridge to reload for.

I'll see if I can't get some pics when I get home tonight.

IIRC, Dan Wesson built the .32-20 revolvers for the silhouette shooters. Thompson Contender made .32-20 barrels also, only they were bored .308 rather than the standard .311-312.

Black Hills, Ten-X, Winchester, Remington, and Ultramax, all load the 32-20, though boxes aren't cheap.

I think I saw one of the Dan Wesson 32-20 revolvers quite a few year ago.

BTW, are Dan Wesson revolvers of good quality? I see them once in a while in 22lr, and would really like to try one sometime, when the budget allows.

I actually rate them better then S&W, except for finish. They have easily removable barrels and barrel cylinder gap can be easily adjust by shooter, the the trigger group is so simple as to be almost funny and it is better IMHO, they have a short trigger pull DA and excellent SA trigger even box stock, but once tunned of just broken in they are drop dead nice. I have never read where they were out shot by any S&W beyond 25 yards to any degree. I can shoot a tighter group with my DW 357 then my 610-3 any day of the week even at 25 yards. Only way I can get the 610-3 to shoot tighter group is have the HUD on the 610-3, can't imagine the DW with a Holographic sight.

The 610-3 is a beauty, buff out and tunned a bit.

Old Navy,
Where did you find that Picatinny rail for the 610? Is it held on with the scope mounting holes, or did you have to add some?
Thanks

There is a Dan Wesson forum,Google it, the 32.20 is one of the rarer ones some collector on the site may have a good idea what it's worth.
I have several, all fine shooters, the 10" .44 mag is outstanding, taken a number of deer with it.

Dan Wesson revolvers made in Monson Mass have really skyrocketed in the past two years. Anything other than a model 14 or 15 is somewhate rare. This 32 stainless mag Pistol Pack is currently at $2,600 on Gunbroker. You stold the 722 stainless at $400. One recently sold on GB for $1,281. I have 5 DW revolvers and just now got into SW revolvers. My pride and joys are my 715 Pistol Pack and 15 heavy vented PP. I am no expert but I am a member on the DW forum.

Buy the 32-20 for $395 and if you want to sell I will give you 600. That is a steal.
