Anyone own or have owned the 5" 627 PC (not sure exactly what model is called)? It has the ".357 MAG - 8 TIMES" on the tapered barrel.

Are the pre-lock any different or better than the lock versions (other than probably being more desirable because of the no-lock frame)? Pix, opinions and feedback on gun in general? Thanks.

hoser,

Check down a few threads, someone posted a similar question just a couple days ago.

Might answer some of your questions.....

These are very nice guns, I believe you will enjoy whatever version you get.

Did the pre-locks have the old spur hammer ignition or frame mounted firing pin?

I bought the first one I saw, S/N RMJ051X, the day before Christmas, 1997. Looks like SmithNut's but has the original stocks.

The d.a. trigger pull is a little heavier than I would have thought a P/C gun would have, but it is very smooth. The s.a. trigger is short and crisp and light.

I love the 8 shot N frames.

I'm still waiting, 11 years later, for speed loaders for them. Yes, it's cut for moon clips, but they are all wobbly compared to, say, an HKS.

Nice gun, very accurate. Having 8 shots is great also. I like that I can load one at a time or with the moon clips. Larry
