I have a S&W model 19-4 Tenn.Highway Patrol (NIB) with date on display case as 1929-1979, that I received from my father. The revolver is as he received it new. The gun is blued with what appears as Gold inlay Tenn. highway patrol badge on gun and also gold in all rollmarks. I have searched the net and can't find any info on the gun. Could some of the Smith experts here tell me anything about this gun? Number produced, possible value? The serial number is 57K22xx. Thanks for any info.---MP

LE Commemoratives are funny as to value. Unless the agency in question is important to the buyer, the markings will not really add to value. Certainly that gun is more important to you as it belonged to your dad. Many buyers would just pass on it as it commemorates something not important to that particular buyer. To get full value, you would have to sell it to someone with some connection to Tennessee Highway Patrol. Supica's book Standard Catalog of S&W has a section on thoughts related to valuing these commemoratives. I suggest you review that.

I also have one of these, my step-dads father was with THP. I would be curious to find out how many of these were produced.

I'm late to this thread but just wanted to let you know that the Tennessee Dept of Safety also had GT Distributors do a run of model 25s for the 60th anniversary of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. There were 350 produced and sold only to members of the THP. Mine is a model 25-9.
