Daily, I read the messages on this Forum that interest me. I've packed my 3rd Edition SCSW til it's tattered. I converse everyday with several local shooters and hang around a couple of gunshops.
629-6, Product #163839, fixed sights, full lug, 2 1/2" barrel.
How the heck have I missed this offering from S&W?
If there's one under half the pick-up seats in Dixie, just tell me. If it ain't so common, let me know and I'll post pics.
Since there has been no early response, I'll post the pics. That's my old bobbed Model 60 shown with the new 629.

Bought the 629-6 as a new gun at a local gunshop today. Haven't been able to find any information concerning this S&W.
Or, am I overlooking pertinent info about it in the SCSW?
Can someone please tell me anything about this revolver?
Thanks, Rich

Man, the silence is deafening!
Do I need to have someone who is slick with a good camera take better photos? (mine are admittedly shabby)

Bill, S&W made this gun a few years ago for a distribution company, I dont remember if it was Camfour or Lew Horton, they were made around 2000-2001. The gun had fixed sights 2.5" barrel, I know it had no lock and MIM parts.I posted a while back when I saw one for sale. I could not afford it at that time or I would have snatched it up. I know S&W re-introduced the gun again this time with the IL. I am sure they are worth a premium. They are not a common gun. I think the one I saw for sale was $900-1100. Hang on to it as it will only increase in value. Check out these threads below for the postings with pics:

I've got one of those guns.
Mine is #013 of 300 made in that run of 629- 5 guns that did not have the lock. These were made for Camfour Distributing Company in the year 2000. Product Code is 103839.
The SCS&W 2nd edition (page 203) has a listing of Product Codes/Model 629 Variations. The early guns are listed there. I've seen no other mention of them in the either the 2nd or 3rd editions of SCS&W.
Mine of course also had the rubber Hogues...but I prefer the wood.

Thanks, both of yall, for the information.
Knockout 629, C&L.
I wish mine could have been a pre-locker but I aint whining. Glad to find this one. Got a set of factory wood combats on my 24-3 and like them better than these rubber grips, too.
Jack, I'm planning on keeping it, but it'll see use, too, what with our bear and two-legged hairball population being on the rise.
Thanks, again.
