I have carried a 640 in the pastand now own a 642 that gets lots of carry. I am wondering if anyone has any pics comparing the size of a 686 2-1/2 or 3 inch to a 1-7/8 or 2-1/4 J frame. I will probably get a nightguard as I can't see myself toting a 35 oz+ CCW piece all day. I have been there and if it is annoying, it will be left at home. Thanks!

I'll add the 3" 686 to the comparison with the 2 J frames. I'm with you, I can't see carrying that much weight.
Cheers,
Sam

The top two guns in the picture below are a 642 and a 686 with 2.5 inch barrel.

I know that before I received my CHL, I always thought my primary carry piece would be my 2.5" barreled Model 66. Surprise of surprises when I found out that an Airweight J frame is my EDC (front pocket carry). I can't even imagine an L frame as my EDC.
Regards,
Dave
