Ok, this is the 686 no dash 8 3/4 barrel that I picked up last week for $300. The first few pics are when I got the gun (told you it needed a really thorough cleaning. The second set, after the cleaning. (Will get some better pics when I get outdoors with it.) Looking forward to trying it out with Hornady Leverevolution ammo.

What did you use to clean up the stainless? I just picked up a 629-1 that could use a little elbow grease......

Thanks.... and that's a great looking gun by the way, who made the grips?

Look at the size of that thing!

If that barrel is really 8-3/4", I wouldn't shoot it - it's rare. Most of the long barrels were 8-3/8".

Nice $300 roscoe!

Nothing but alot of Flitz polish and about an hour of time. Your right S&WChad, she's and 8 3/8 barrel, not 8 3/4. The neat thing is is that this gun sat on the dealer's shelf for a couple of months, and the reason was is that nobody wanted to clean it. Not the previous owner, not the dealer. The dealer figured that the barrel length was a killer as to why no one was buying it. I wanted a .357 specifically to hunt with, and even with that long barrel the balance is about the same as a 28 with the 6 inch barrel. Suprisingly this gun belonged to a former cop who upgraded to a .500 Magnum from what I recall. I think if someone would have just taken an hour to clean the gun up, it would have sold a bit sooner at the price that was on it.

Good Hunting!
