Does anyone know what the X stamp after the serial number on this Model 686-3 means?

I have been told that the final inspector at S&W would put this mark on guns that needed to go back on the line due poor work or a bad part. I have a M66-3 that has this X mark on it.

Doesn't sound like a bad thing to find.
You know for durn sure, it got fixed, and received "special" attention.
