Is the S&W model 12 a K or J frame?

Thanks. Contemplating the purchase of Crimson Trace grips...

Model 12's before the "-4" (1984) revision have a frame that's .080" narrower that a standard K frame. The lasergrips may not fit properly. Talk to the CT before you spend $200-$300.

It's amazing how many changes S&W has made to their products.

There are many, many subtle differences in the frame between my 65-8 and 64-5, and that's not including the obvious ones due to the lock and two-piece barrel on the 65.
