Well, I took the big 686 out to the range this morning. Shoots very very well with the Hornady Leverevolution 140 grain ammo. There were too many people and I didn't get the chance to chrono it. Recoil is like a .38 +P from my M13.

"My, that's a big one..."

Gotta admit, that long barrel is pretty cool on a 686. I like my 8 3/8" Model 27-2, it balances well. I imagine the underlugged 686 is a little more front heavy.

Nice group and beautiful 686. I have a 586 with a 8 3/8 barrel and it shoots great. I'm currently looking for a 686 with a 8 3/8 barrel so it won't be so lonely.
