Hello all - I recently acquired a model 13-3. The box label bears a product code of 100303 and lists the features as 'special'. My SCSW3 does not list this product code for the model 13 - just wondering if anyone has come across this variation. Thanks to all.

It must be that rare, un-documented variation that's exactly like yours!

Here are some photos of my new acquisition - I would appreciate any information regarding the non-listed product code.

I have a similar 13-3 and my product code is 100304 and the features area is blank. My serial is awz prefixed. Don't know; mystery to me too; maybe others can explain it. Looks exactly like mine.

Hello WFR - Can you tell me why you feel this is a unique acquisition? And - pardon my ignorance - what does BTT mean? Thanks for your patience. Mike

It's uniques because it's not listed in the Standard Catalog of S&W.
I like it because I'm a huge fan of 3" S&W's particularly the 3" model 13!
BTT = Back To Top also referred to as bump to top.
I'd like to know what you find out as far as what that product code means. I'm still a relative newbie having only been at this for 5 or 6 years now. I'm sure someone here may be able to help you figure it out.
This forum has been a gold mine of information for me.
Here's a couple of mine:
13-4

13-3 & 13-4 with 625 Mtn Gun

13-3 with Marlin .357 levergun

WFR - Nice! Thanks for the clarification. I have not heard an explanation yet for the non-standard product code, but may ultimately resort to a Roy Jinks letter to ID the revolver.

Received the Roy Jinks letter on this model 13-3. Turns out it's an FBI shipment - would like to know more about it as it's unfired.

Outstanding acquisition. There are many fans of the Bureau 13s out here in S&W Land and for you to find an unfired sample will no doubt drive many of us nuts!

Congrats on a great find, thank you for the photos and letter. Enjoy!

Someone on another thread on these 13's recently stated that all the FBI guns were pinned and recessed 13-2's. The person who started the thread had just acquired three of the 13-2's and they were FBI contract. I'm no expert, but I thought the FBI used revolvers until the late eighties or early nineties anyway. So it would stand to reason that some 13-3's were used in the FBI contract, and as we know, these are NOT pinned or recessed. Doesn't really make a hell of a lot of difference, but I would like to know a detailed history on these FBI guns. If I'm not mistaken they were used in the infamous Miami FBI shootout in 1986 in which a couple of agents were killed, and the FBI began the transition to auto pistols in earnest. Anyone with more info, please post. Inquiring minds want to know!
