I recently picked this up at my local gun shop at a very good price. The problem was that the hammer and trigger had been buffed to look like the high gloss stainless finish on the rest of the gun. Ugh!!! I sent it to the PC for a Master Action Job (sans Wolff springs), a new forged hammer and I provided a new forged .400" target trigger. Gene did the work and it now has a very nice action, which will undoubtedly get even better with use. This will be my hunting handgun since my 6" Model 17-6 is what I use for bullseye. Enjoy.

Nice! What size groups does it give you now, off bags?

I've yet to seriously shoot it for groups. I've tried an assortment of hollow point hi-vel ammo and except for CCI Minimag HP, it didn't really impress me. But in my experience, 22's can be very picky with ammo selection. I'll do dome more serious testing and report back.

Last summer I called the Performance Center to inquire about a Master Revolver Action Package for my 617 no dash. The person I spoke to told methat they wouldn't do it because they'd encountered lots of complaints about light strikes with 617s with action jobs. So, I'm surprised that they did it for you. Either I was fed bad info or they've changed their policy. Did you talk directly with Gene?

Actually I was told the same thing because that package normally includes the Wolff mainspring, the cause of the light strikes. So I asked them to do everything they normally would do except for the spring exchange. They did and I'm very happy with the results. I did't speak directly to Gene, but rather to the PC customer service rep. He's very knowledgeable and helped me understand all that Gene would do for me. Besides this is about the 30th gun they've done for me so I'm pretty comfortable with their work.
