I have received wonderful compliments from many of you about my S&W Model 624 engraved with 75% coverage American Scroll by Michael Gouse. It is stocked with Skeeter Skelton style birdseye maple handles by Bear Hug grips. I had Gouse engrave Skeeter's cattle brand on the backstrap as a tribute to my favorite gun writer.

Quite a few of you loved the gun but disliked the practical red fiber optic front sight. I had installed that front sight before I had the gun engraved. The factory sights were difficult to see so I had initially gone with practicality.

I ordered some items from Brownells the other day and I got to thinking that a McGivern gold bead would be almost as practical as the red fiber optic, but it would be much more in keeping with the revolver's overall style.

I feel the gun is now "complete."

Very nice! I love how you used the holster as a prop and had Skeeter's books in the background.

Terrific in so many ways what you have done to personalize this piece. I mean we all occasionally do the grips, or a target hammer or trigger, or sights; but your "whole package" is just so, well, complete. Congratulations!

Did I understand in your post that you got the gold bead front sight from Brownell's? I may have to get one for my 6" Model 27-2. It has a red ramp front sight on it presently, but I'm thinking everyone should have at least one N-frame with a McGivern gold bead front sight.

Did you do the install yourself or was it done by your gunsmith?

Oh, and is that a Millett rear sight on there?

Bob

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

The rear sight is from Weigand Combat http://www.jackweigand.com/smith_wesson_rear_blade.html and the front sight is from SDM through Brownells http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.as...BEAD%20FRONT%20SIGHT and Gouse's website is www.mtart.com

With that front sight, you have "crowned" a nice looking six-gun. Beautiful.

Very, very nice. Are you going to upgrade to a stamped and carved Tom Threepersons to go with it now?

I'm typically not a fan of engraved stainless but, I have to admit, that is a fine looking revolver. Thanks for the pics.

Always loved that gun, but felt the front sight distracted from the gun. Now it is perfect....absolutely beautiful! Congrats!
