Well I bought a 686 4", RB, seven shot. Looks about 98%+. I won't say what I bought it for until I hear some feedback on what would be a fair price for one.

Well, I bought a new one a few months ago, lock, MIM, and all. By the time I paid 9% sales tax it was just under $700 OTD. Despite its "flaws", it's one hell of a revolver.

What - number is it? -5 or less would be on the table for 500 bucks + tax in 98% shape. Plus it also depends where you are, I'm talking Dayton Ohio area.

I paid $505, I'm still learning. It has the damn MIM parts so I should have checked it out more. However I didn't find any others for less.

You got your gun for a good price. Used 686's of recent manufacture go for anywhere from $475 to $600 in my part of the world. If you're going to use the gun quit bemoaning the MIM; all other things being equal those parts will last as long as anything else and since you already have ordered spares....just in case(doesn't everybody?)they'll be easier to replace than forged(with a case by case exception as with any other machine). You've got a great revolver, enjoy!

I think you did fine, too. That gun is arguably better than anything you could buy new for a LOT more money, and will last a couple of lifetimes. Some years ago I gave over $600.00 for a 686 Mountain Gun 7 shooter.

Well it sounds like I did fair, just not great. My Rrevolver Fu is weak compaired to some of you other guys, I'm still learning to spot good deals. Thank you for the encouragement!
