A rare 4 screw 4" Model 29!
The title is technically correct, but probably a lot newer than you thought.
29-8 Mountain Gun, product code 161236FC, limited availability stocking dealer special made in early 2003 using the Heritage series four screw frames. I asked a few weeks ago about production numbers, no one seems to have any idea. One member posted a pic of his, and I found an old Armslist ad for one, but that's it. Guessing production somewhere in the hundreds.
Came with all the books and such, fired case, black plastic case, etc. Hogues plus the Ahrends I kept on there. Hard to tell if it was ever fired. While it'll be a safe queen with me, it will get shot some.

Guns with IL’s are not deserving of safe queen status...

It is a beautiful revolver, does not deserve to sleep in a box, use and enjoy it for that was manufactured.
Sorry I write in Spanish but I do not speak English.
Thank you

¡Gracias! Podemos escribir en español si quiere.
By "safe queen" I mean it won't get carried, I have a 629 for that. But you guys are right, there's no sense in keeping it "unfired" even if it's 15+ years old and mint. It needs to get shot. Probably a healthy dose of .44 Specials with a few Magnums here and there.

I had a chance to buy one recently but it was priced at $1000. I had to take into consideration what else that money would by me or I would have gotten it.

Looks nice, but if you go 4-screw, you also need to pin the barrel, use the old-style cylinder release, use football-cutout target stocks with the S&W medallion, use the old-style cylinder stop, and dump the hole in the side.
Now THAT would be a REAL classic and IMPRESSIVELY beautiful.
THIS is what I'm talking about, folks!
John
P.S. You might be able to find one of these "left over" from the good old days!

Nice gun, This is an "original" Four Screw, Four Inch Model 29 from December of 1959 (The gun is in a lot better condition than the photos depict)

Guys, I have S&W revolvers from every decade from the 1910s onward. This one and the 627PC I got the same day are my only IL guns. I get it, it's not a classic.
When I go to car shows, I see the guys with the classics chatting it up with the owners of new Challengers, Mustangs, Corvettes, etc. Why can't we just all get along?
