34-1 sighting
stopped in a pawn shop this afternoon and spotted a model 34-1, nickel in 4 inch. if i'm reading it correctly from page 207 of scosw that makes the gun born from 84-86. looked to be in very good shape, nice and tight, but it did not have the original grips(looked like those pachamer, not sure since I don't have any). they wanted 399 which considering seemed to me to be a little high. any opinions on this?

sounds good to us.......
about the going price for that model around here, add the proper grips as well as the box ( packaging) and they are on the tables here for $450, when you even get to see them.....I'd say a slight premium for the nickel finish,, if its "nice"...........same gun in stainless ( 63) are going for well over $500...and yes, they are "selling"........

Dan's reply is spot on.
If you really want it, point out the lack of original grips and offer $350 for it. A replacement set of correct type factory grips will cost you $35 if you're lucky, $45 is more likely.

thanks for the input guys. it was more a curiosity for me than anything. not sure what I would do with a j frame 22. but it could be a future trade piece if I were to buy the wooden grips though.

I picked up a 34-1 in a local sale for $350. It is 4", blue and in excellent shape, with the original grips but no box. As previously stated, if you get it for $350 or even $375 and buy the correct grips, you did OK.
I would be buying it to shoot it, a lot, as was also previously stated.
