Desantis Nemesis Pocket Holster
I just ordered a Nemesis holster online. Am I going to like it or not? I intend to pocket carry my J frame with it.

I have been carrying my Colt D S in one about 8 months of the year for over three years. I like it a LOT.

I found it was a little too wide to fit in my pocket, so I will use my Uncle Mike's IWB until I buy new pants.

I had one, but sold my 642. It worked OK, but one time, the 642 slipped out of my pocket while I was sitting down at a wake! Nobody saw it, but I kind of lost faith in it. I was wearing a pair of dockers.

Mine fits my casual and dress pants pockets just fine, but is too large for jeans. For jeans, I change to a Mika or go IWB. IWB is preferred, because the jeans pocket size slows down presentation quite a bit.

I have three different pocket holsters to choose from, depending on what I'm wearing. Some are better for front pocket, some hip pocket. My Kramer gives a wallet profile, so is great for lightweight clothes. Use the Desantis for a while, then decide what other needs you have.

I don't like them, to me they are far too thick and bulky, as you can see in the pic below with comparison to a horse hide pocket holster. The reason for this is that they do not make one specifically for the S&W J frame. If you search out the catalog numbers and compare them, the number they list for a J frame is also the same holster for other guns, like small autos, etc. Although they make holsters for dozens of guns, they don't make dozens of different holsters.

Who made the horsehide holster you are modeling in the photo?

I bought one for my 442, and have only worn it with jeans so far. It does a good job of keeping the revolver stable, and in the right place, and I am sure that if I had to draw quickly, I could. That being said, when I am walking around with it, and happen to look down at my pocket, it looks like I have a brick in my front pocket (and it FEELS like I have a brick in my front pocket). I'm still experimenting.

That one is a Galco that I got used out of a bargain box, I think for $15. Several folks make them, and earlier today I was looking at them on a poster's website over on the CCW section. They looked pretty nice too.

I have a Uncle Mikes IWB holster and took
the plastic clip off. It's cheap and works for me.
I carry a Kel-Tec and starting today my new
36-0. Don

I use one for my Kel Tec P3AT and it works great, I do agree with the "brick in the front pocket" mentioned by Filbird.

The Nemesis is the best $15 I've ever spent.
I routinely carry my 442 in one. It works acceptably well in all of my pants - the only one with any real issue are two pairs of Dockers "Classic Khakis" which have rather small pockets. But it still works fine, it's just the limit.
No issues in regular Dockers, jeans, or cargo shorts.
I'm sure there are better pocket holsters out there for a J-Frame - but it's really hard to beat what you get for your money in a Nemesis (not to mention the widespread availability to boot).

I've done that also, and it makes a nice, small, waterproof package. However, it really does not met one basic requirement of a real pocket holster, and that is to stay in the pocket when you draw the gun out. With the converted Uncle Mike's IWB, the holster and gun come out together, and you have to dispose of the holster.

I have Nemesis holsters for my 642 and my M&P9c, both of which see pocket carry.
They work fine in my Dockers.
I also find that they make great 'protective sleeves' to store the guns in my Gun Vaults, locked glove box, etc.

You are absolutely correct, my,friend!
but for me, they work with carpenter jeans and shorts in all brands, colors & flavors. It is sort of a one size fits all criteria, but so far, it has worked for me!

Pocket Holster
Using a cheap Blackhawk fabric one which works fine for 36-637-642 but not too good for my 6 shots, 34 & Cobra.

I use it with a 432PD and find it works very well with Dockers and cargo shorts. Works ok with jeans but it's obvious you've got something in your pocket...you can't tell what it is but you can tell something is there. My favorite place is to put it in the inside pocket of my Dickies jacket, zero printing of any kind.

I have one of those Galco horsehide pocket holsters that I carry a Keltec P32 in. That's about the biggest firearm that I can comfortably carry in a pants pocket. I do have a NAA .22 mag and that one is easy to carry also. Anything bigger is just too obvious to me and uncomfortable particularly when seated. I am also concerned that it's hard to get to a weapon that's tight in one's pants pocket when sitting down. That said, the Galco is very nice. It's thin and keeps its shape and is tough.

I have one for my 642 and also for my Glock G26. I tend to use my 642 with the Uncle Mike's more, it seems to be a smaller package and fit most of my pants better, although I do like the Nemesis also.

I have a Nemesis that works OK for a Mod 640, Mod 37, and a Centennial Airweight.
Mine was horrible with a late 60s Bodyguard Airweight I generally use in the warm months.
On mine, the small hammer spur hangs up in the folded nylon at the top back of the Nemesis, most times taking the holster with the gun when attempting to draw it. I started a thread about this maybe a month ago. Nobody else's Bodyguard was getting stuck like mine was(my typical luck). This event occurs most of the time whether I push the holster top edge with my thumb when drawing the gun, or I don't.
I bought a Galco horsehide pocket holster, slightly used, from a gent for $20.00 shipped. It has a better shape at the bottom to hold the holster in the pocket and so far I haven't had the holster come out with the gun even once. It normally retails for about $49. You get what you pay for. It is vastly better than the Nemesis. My preference would be the Kramer pocket holster but I missed a lightly used one for about $50 on this website a few weeks ago. I don't want to pay $90 plus shipping for a new one. The Galco also resembles a wallet when viewed by others when I'm sitting. To me it screams "gun - pocket holster" but I guess to non gun people it does not.
I only front pocket carry in the summer months and I only carry this way wearing cargo type shorts or loose fitting pants. For me, carrying front pocket in jeans is dreadful. I carry IWB with a j frame or German PPK with a loose t shirt before I carry front pocket wearing jeans.
I only carry the Airweights in the front pocket. The steel frames are too heavy to be comfortable for me.....

Not to hijack this thread but does anyone else use the Pocket Concealment System holsters?
I started off with an Uncle Mike's and quickly felt that it wasn;t right for me.
I had a PCS made for my 642 and it works really well. I had quite a long chat with the owner and he has some really clear ideas on holsters and how they work with different scenarios (pants, guns, pockets, etc.) He gave me a great education and I eventually ordered his Blackbird model. Nice website with good info. If anyone is interested I'll post a link.
