Default Model 10 one piece barrel

I do not remember where I heard this. Is S&W returning to the one piece barrel on model 10s & 64s ?

Hi, That was the 64 and 67. The model 10 has always had a one piece barrel

Thank you for the information. I hope that they will also go to a one piece barrel on the 3-inch 64 I want to order two more. I do have to disagree with you on the model 10. I have seen five of them at my local gun store with the two piece barrel.

Never run across a M10 with a two piece barrel. Do you know the engineering change (dash number) on these that you've seen?

There is a 10-14 on Gunbroker right now that looks like it has a two piece barrel. Search for Auction # 131051160.

My 10-14 that I've had for a year has a one piece barrel.

Default M10-14

I have a M10-14 in my collection that also has a one piece barrel. Would have thought a two piece design would warrant a new engineering change, but don't know that for a fact.

Looking at the gun in the Gunbroker auction listed above is inconclusive. One pic (top) would indicate to me to be a one piece barrel, but the bottom pic is out of focus and sort of looks like there is an extra piece on the front of the barrel like a two piece barrel would be.... :?

Hello, I am sorry but I do not remember what was the design number but I think that it was 10-14. I was at my local gun store when they arrived. These five Model 10s were an order for a local security company. What originally suprised me was that the distributor shipped 5 consecutive numbered guns. I know that the owner of the security company was not happy that they had the 2 piece barrel he later ordered more guns but asked for Taurus.

These could have also bin spare part guns. In 2003 I purchased a NIB Model 10 with MIM parts including the cuts on the inside of the frame for the IL flag parts but it did not have the lock installed. It had the best blue polish I have ever seen on a S&W. The finish looked like the finish I have seen on a few collector pieces from the 1950s.
