Barrel/cylinder gap is not critical. S&W says anything between .004 and .010 is within spec. Too small a gap is no good. Junk can build up, and bind the cylinder. Your gun would have come in a Bangor/Punta era folding blue/white cardboard box. Guys used to sell them on eBay. You can try gunbroker.com.
