Another "PROJECT" (Heavy Pics)

You should remember this gun that my pal Allen Frame posted a week or so ago:



I got it today and got to spend less than four hours on her. I have the back part of the grip dressed up ready for finel polishing, barrel is fitted along with the cylinder. Got alot of the old finish off (left some to show it is the same gun LOL), but still have some to do. Side plate needs some fitting. I will get the gun together here in the near furture, got to find a tig welder here in Morgantown WV to do the trigger guard for me.

I won't comment on the idiocy of cutting the front of the trigger guard, hopefully he was punished well by the B/C flash. However, I am completely mystified by that open sideplate. Anyone have any theories as to why someone would do this.

Btw, it's good to see that 686 has finally found a good home, it's been abused far too much and deserves better.

Added note, on closer examination that frame looks like that may be a model 66, if so, that's an ever better save.

Easier to oil???

Probably to look at the interaction of the parts during the trigger/hammer cycle. Brownells has/has a plexiglass sideplate for K frames to do the same thing.

THANK YOU FOR THE NICE WORDS. I have to polish it some and order the sights for it along with a few springs and pins. Plus finding someone to weld it will be the next BIG thing to do. I think she has turned out nice myself and she should be ready for the range in a week or two. Then the next thing to to find another project to do , anyone have any good IDEA's?

Maybe so he could lubricate it more easily?
