Question fair price for 3" model 13

I have to sell a model 13 with 3" barrel, round butt w/smooth combat grips in 99% condition. I don't know what the current value is on these, Can anyone here help me out. I am in California, if that effects the price.

In Georgia, in that condition, probably in the 400 range. Maybe more.

The gun without the combat grips is easily worth $400-450 and the grips should fetch a C-note pretty easily. You might get more money by selling the two individually.

I got one with box and papers for $400(mine did not have smooth combats) but have seen 2 at recent shows for $500.

3" barrels always raise the price. In California, $450 likely for that gun in excellent condition. I will buy it from you for that price if you are in the bay Area.

You can list it on the Calguns forum to sell it.

My 13-3 with three inch barrel, round butt and box and paperwork would fetch no less than 500.00 bucks or it would stay home.......

Don't forget ,the -2 which is pinned and counterbored will bring probably 20%
more. If it's a -3 in 99% $500. with the combats. A -2 ,,$600.

Just my guess.

It's a 13-3. I've just been outside trying to take pictures, but the blue is too shiny. It keeps reflecting everything and looks terrible. Does anyone have a hint on how to take a digital picture that won't do that? The preceding picture, in this thread is great.

I bought a13-3 from a forum member appx 6 month ago. Paid $450, without the box or papers. Original grips though. I felt it was a very fair price. Gun was appx 98%

I bought a 3" -3 in Ca. for $375. Almost new looking and said to be formerly an FBI gun. Super smooth action. I offered $400. He said $375 would be fine. Yeah. You read that right.

One good trick if it is sunny is to place the gun in the shade for the pic. That way you have enough light to take the pic without a flash but no reflections and shadows.

My lightly used Mod 13-2 3" cost me $165 about 1989. I wanted a 357 mag but I am most attracted to practical carry guns. I thought the K frame with a 3 inch barrel and minimal sights would be the best for my needs.
I still have this gun and it has the best double action trigger of any of my revolvers.

I just bought a -3 for $375. It is only about 95% and has had the hammer bobbed. I figure it's worth a little less modified, but I was looking for a shooter anyway.

I'm actually thinking about installing a bobbed hammer on my "-3".
I could care less what it does to the value because I'm not going to sell it anyhow!
The gun has such a sweet DA trigger anyhow.
Post some pics of your new "-3".
Sounds to me like you got a very good deal.

Just picked it up this week. I've only put 20 rounds thru it, but it seems to group well and goes bang so far. I won't carry it until I've put a few hundred rounds thru it. Whoever did the work did a nice job IMHO. They took out the single action notch, rendering it truly DAO. Other mods incl: polishing the trigger and hammer, painting the front sight ramp (don't know if that was part of the same modification), cutting off the lower portion of the thumb latch to avoid ejection hangups and provide better speedloader clearance, and they replaced the sideplate screws with allen head ones. Not really sure if the trigger and hammer weren't just replaced, rather than polished? They are slightly pitted and are VERY shiny - appear chromed or something to me. I really like the smooth polished trigger and it's obviously been smoothed inside as well, altho I haven't yet removed the sideplate.

I've been looking at 3" M13s, trying to find one at a "decent" price. Seems like they're all at $500 and up if they're in good condition.

Yes, I looked for at various sources for a few months and the going rate seems to be around $500+. WyattB and I must've just lucked out. I bet if you look long enough in the right places you could find one in the $400 range.

I doubt the prices listed above are still correct after 3 years!

Good luck in your search.

Long gone, I'm sad to say. I guess I can't keep 'em all, but that doesn't keep me from trying.

I know this is an old thread, but thought that it would be a good idea to keep track of recent prices. FWIW in December 2012 I bought this 3" 13-2, recessed but not pinned, non-matching grips, and carry wear, on GB for $370 delivered. It's not a safe queen and it will be carried in the field and around town. At the moment it's getting an action job, and a set of Pachmayrs and a set of Uncle Mike's are inbound. I'm thinkng a Kramer scabbard or a Lobo belt holster comes next.
