Default Model 36 Date of Manufacture

I purchased a Chief's Special yesterday and am trying to date it. The serial number is ACH402* on the grip and 5995* inside the frame. I don't think the barrel is pinned, it has a dark blued finish, the hammer and trigger are case hardened, there are 2 screws plus the grip screw, and the grips are a light wood with S&W emblems. What year or approximate year was it made? Would it be ok to shoot +P in it?
Thanks,
Dustin

The "ACH" number is the serial number and it dates to early 1983. Cannot help you with the +P question but, I would think a light diet of +P would be fine in it!

Congrats on a fine J Frame Smith.
