Default Can't find this exact gun?

I have one of my father’s S&W 14-5. I have yet to see one on the internet. Does anyone have any information on a model 14-5 with an 8 3/4" barrel, nickel with wooden contour grips? Is it rare? It has never been fired. I estimate value (not that I would sell it) at $850? I am positive it is all original and I have the box and papers.

In 1990, the factory was producing a special series of revolvers for Ellett Brothers, called "12 Revolvers", with a different model for each month of that year. One of these guns was a 8 3/8" nickel M14, like yours. The drawing below is of the M14 that was known as "The Last Stand" model.
The 12 Revolver series was not very successful and not all originally envisioned sets were completed. Lots of individual guns were shipped, as well as many guns that did not get the laser etching treatment. It's my belief that your gun was part of the production for that model, some folks here have examples and it's been discussed before. The two key points that lead me to that conclusion is the nickel finish and the front sight, which are part of the specs for "The Last Stand" model. The only thing about your gun that I'd question - assuming it was part of the 12 Revolver production - is the grips, the original M14 - The Last Stand - had more traditional S&W Target Grips. I do not recall any M14's having been shipped with the smooth Combats as in your picture, but I could be wrong.

Default Last Stand

On the box label it does say "Last Stand", but I am positive the grips are original, unless the dealer switched them, but I doubt that. Thank you. I am indexing all 15 in my dads collection any guess on value?

t8458sw,
Does your revolver have all the embellishments (laser etching) that is shown on the drawing above? That would impact the value, unfortunately in my opinion in a negative fashion. In either case (embellishments or not), I'd have to say that $850 is pretty high a valuation. Lots of things to consider, value, originality, location, etc., my opinion - if the gun has no laser etching - is that it's worth probably $450-550 to the right person.

It is a distinctive, handsome piece. I'd sure be happy to have it!
