A 10-7 which indicates the changes to the gas ring and such first appeared in about 1977.

Frames with those changes, and marked "10-7" could have been assembled any time after that. I have a 10-7 framed M&P that was marketed by S&W in about 2001.

The best way to tell when a 10-7 was assembled/shipped/released from the factory is to look at its serial number.

So, a 10-7 was made from about 1977 until about 2001, or later. S&W may still have 10-7 frames sitting around awaiting assembly right now as I type.
