Default Range report

This morning went out to my son’s house. Beautiful sunny day in the mid 60’s. He lives in the country and has a small range in his back yard. Took my new SW Model 60-15 for its initial outing. If there were a rating above perfect, I’d give it to it! This gun is smooth and fun to shoot. We fired 38spls and 357 mags. It loved them. Perceived recoil using the 38 spls was noticeable but not uncomfortable. You knew it when you fired the 357 mags in this little 3” but it wasn’t really bad. And this with the wood grips, not the soft rubber that it came with. We fired from about 30 feet and my first round hit dead center of a 9” pie plate. As you can see, I couldn’t be happier with this new Smith & Wesson and I’d recommend it without hesitation.
Then I dug out my Stoeger (Beretta) Cougar in .40 SW. Only the second time this one’s ever been out and I’m still amazed at not only its accuracy but the fact that the 40SW offers almost no perceived recoil. Like all Berettas, it’s smooth, dependable and accurate.
Finally, with not a little trepidation, I brought out the Stoeger .22 LR Luger I picked up used about a year ago. I still hadn’t taken it out - all I’d read about these guns was how unreliable they were with FTF, FTE, etc. etc. So I loaded up a few mags with Federal bulk that my Ruger Mk III likes. The Luger ate ‘em up. Then I tried some Remington Golden that Ruger adamantly states the Mark III does not like. The little Luger gobbled them up too. Other than a few rounds that didn’t toggle the action on the last round, it was great. My eight year old granddaughter fired a number of magazines with her dad’s Beretta Neos, then tried gramp’s Luger. Her final judgment: she liked the Luger better than the Beretta! I’m proud of my son and the way he’s teaching his daughter to shoot. It was something to watch this 8 year old loading her own magazines, using a perfect stance and grip and squeezing the trigger. Once while firing one of the .22s I didn’t have my hearing protection on. You know I was immediately called on that.
All in all, a perfect morning.

Ed, Sure glad ya liked it and I as I believe I said in an earlier thread it will sure make a dent in your 38/357 ammo supply. The wife and I went to the range on Saturday and our 40+ son tagged along I couldn't get mine away from them between the two of them burned up a couple hundred rds. Got to put the speedloaders away. I was relegated to shootin my M&P 9c which I really don't mind.
