Default Rear Sight Plunger and Spring

You have no idea how many dead bugs you have in your basement until you start looking for a part the size of a tiny bug. I used the clear bag trick to disassemble, but I could see thru it clearly enough for the reassemble. SPROING!!!!!!!! A call to S&W parts department will be in order next week.

Flash light works great for me. Boy, I hate when that happens...

I heard it hit cardboard, I've checked all over with the flashlight near everything cardboard in the general vicinity. I'll have to check for a magnet, but it could have bounced into or off of a box, I've got too many open boxes of just junk in that workshop area.

Your never-ever going to find them.....
When you order the parts, order extra for the next time!

Once I had to finish the job, and yep popped a plunger, I visited the lathe and made one. That was the hardest thing I've done in recent memory, never again!

The large magnet is the tool for the job. My workshop is carpeted, and I never found the first one but the magnet found the second one.

How in the he** did you make that tiny piece on your lathe? I just lost a plunger & spring last night also. I ordered 10 of each from Brownell's.

Along with a buck to the NRA, every order Brownell's fills should include that small plastic bag 500 posted! Even if your ordering parts for an Ithaca shotgun! I start getting the shakes when I get down to less than 3?

Well, I took "number" drill, snapped it off and I used the shank of the drill. Then I filed it down so the body was to size. Then flipped it 180 degrees and filed the point.

The shank of the drill was hardened and worked perfectly.
I never said it was easy...

Man I know what you mean, the only thing that vanish's as frequently as small springs is 45 ACP brass. Had a minor event last week with a spring. Had my GSG-5 carbine out last week when I noticed the bolt hold open no longer worked, took a look and the spring for it was gone. Now the only thing holding the spring in place is the bolt carrier, when you remove the carrier you have to be carefull you dont lose it. I last cleaned the thing about a month prior to this. When I got home I checked the area of the man cave where I clean weapons and within 30 seconds with a strong flashlight I found the little bugger in the carpet! Now how often will that happen?
