First order of business is to determine which S&W model pistol you have.
Some pictures would be useful, of the light firing pin strikes.

Light firing pin strikes can be caused by a number things, including: hardened oil or grease in the firing pin channel, slide failing to go fully into battery (firing position), damaged firing pin tip, kinked or broken firing pin spring, excessive headspace, and so on. We need more details to narrow it down.

As a general rule, a detailed disassembly and thorough cleaning and lubrication is in order. Refer to the archives for detailed dissassembly diagrams and instructions. If you are not experienced at this, it would be best to take it to a gunsmith for servicing.

i had the same problem with a sw9m. sent it to s@w and they wont fix it, they will send you a new pistol in its place. they will send a full sized sigma but i talked to them a bit and i am getting a new 908s in its place. FREE! id send it in and then discuss with them your options. BB

11e40- As I recall, S&W has deleted that pistol and all it's parts(It was a *** from the get-go.). I always liked the idea of it's size and ability to get it running fast(trigger proprietary system) as a BUG. I lucked into one a few years after S&W had intoduced it. Weapon would not reliably ignite any brand of ammo I tried. Badly out of spec chamber and firing pin. When I called S&W for an over length firing pin, Cutomer service told me that the SW9M had been completly deleted from their inventory, lock, stock and barrel. Then they offered me a 908 in it's place. You bet I jumped on that. I love S&W. My kind of company. Call 'em and see what they will do for you. Good luck.
