Default What to do,or what would you do?

I have a mod 14 with a Bomar rib on it.I don't like it.I want to put some other sights on it.Been looking at some Hivis type sights for the front. Also I looked at some Millett sights for the rear. The problem I see with the Milletts is that they don't come pre-drilled for a gun this old and I aint "gunsmithy" enough to drill the holes.Anybody have any suggestions or ideas they want to give?I'm pushing 50 and I want some bright easy to see something on it.Here is a pic of the gun. Thanks, Jeff

You can put a HIVIS sight on the front and get the "V" notch rear sight from S&W to put on the rear. What are you going to do with the BoMar? If I may ask.

I sympathize with you on the "old eyes". The best fix I've found, other than red dot optics, is to widen the rear notch. Carefully with a safe edge file so you're only cutting the sides. It will help give you a band of light on each side like you should see instead of everything blurring together. You can go to a fiber optic front but I find I still have to widen (and sometimes deepen) the rear notch.

What about a little bright orange model paint on the front sight of the Bomar?

Should help a bit...

The most effective remedy for my old eyes has been HiViz front & rear, in different color light rods. A bit spendy at ~$80/set, but every time I use them they prove their value!

Thanks for the replies,I didn't know Hiviz made a rear sight that would work.I've been looking at a really old Brownells that didn't have much selection.I'm going to check that out.

I have found a V-notch rear also works well with the hiviz front. I'm looking for rapid line up in action shooting. If you want a more precise sight picture, a wider square or U notch is probably a bit better.

Super Sights

SDM Super Sights and a Smith or Millet rear are the hot ticket in IDPA revolver shooting.

One more question, the front sight base is missing. There is just a slot left in the rib. Will I have to get a base to mount the Hiviz front sight in?

We need a better pic to see what's there, or not there. Side shot.
