I recently picked up an otherwise nice 66-5, R/R, W/O. However, it would appear that someone painted the entire rear sight assembly, from the hammer to the top of the sight leaf, including the adjusting screw, with thick, white house paint. I have tried alcohol, SoftScrub, and GoJo Orange, all with no result. I am hesitant to use a stiff wire brush for fear of removing the finish from the blue/black sight assembly, much less the white outline on the sight blade if it is indeed under there. Anyone have any ideas or advice? Thanks. -Ed.
