Default 422 disassemble

I would like to disassemble my 422 more then the normal field strip for cleaning.

How do you remove the left panel of the grip frame. That looks like all I need to take off for a good cleaning.

Oh shoot, I screwed up!

I don't have pistol info in there

Check out this on utube

YouTube - Smith and Wesson 422, 622, 2213, & 2214, Disassembly & Reassembly

Your gun should have 2 screws on the grip. If you remove the screws it should just come off.

No screws on panels: To remove the grip. I'd assume a credit card slid between the frame and grip should remove the rubber grip panel. Once you get a corner up, they just pry it off. That's how the hogue grips come off on some revolvers.

Thanks again Magnum Nut, but the part I was referring to is under the grips.

Has three screws in it and looks like the slide release and safety are attached to it. I think the hammer pin also may be attached.

I took the screws out. That's not going to be enough. I will get it off sooner or later. But help is always good.

Any ideas?

Since it's not broken, I'd just remove the slide / magazine and grip panels. Take Break free CLP and soak it good all inside, then use compressed air and blow it off. Then use a paper towel and finish wiping the outsides off.
Your dealing with pins and springs that possibly should not be fooled with. Using CLP with compressed air makes cleaning dirty 22s childs play.
