Default Model 28 Cylinder bored to 44 special

I ruined a 5 screw Model 28 about 30 years ago. Put on a fancy Smith barrel in 44 special and had the cylinder reamed to 44. Is it possible to salvage this cylinder with inserts so it can be made whole again? Would it be worth it or is it okay in value as a Model 28 44 special?

Was the gun re-finished when you had the work done? How does it shoot? How long is the barrel? Red ramp front sight? . . . need pictures (there is a thread that describes the process of posting pictures).

I don't think it's worth it, from an economic standpoint, to try to take it back to .357. You can find another one for less than that will cost you. If you don't want a .44 Spl, sell it, and use the proceeds toward purchase of another Model 28. Depending on condition, it might be worth 3 or 4 hundred.

Default Bored?

Kinda like my 45 Colt, I guess. It's a 38-44 frame that has had the cylinder bored to 45 Colt, and a Model of 1955 .45 barrel, cut to 4 inches, put on it. Has an adj. rear sight machined into the top strap, and a cut-down Patridge front sight attached with a screw to the barrel. It's a heavy piece, and fun to shoot. Probably paid too much for it, also.
