I wanted a .32 long cartridge revolver in a target configuration as well & bought this sweet Taurus a few yrs back & it's the next best thing to the S&W. (model 14-4 on left)
I has all the same features, at less cost.....I believe it is a model 76. They were known to also be chambered in .32 H&R magnum later in this models production.
It would be another thought for you to consider in a fantastic target type revolver.
I wouldn't part with mine, it is a fine, accurate shooter.
Sorry, this is not a "Smithing" fix,....but it is an alternative!
