Default Patridge Sight Dot?

I have a Model 19 with a plain patridge sight and I'd like to brighten it beyond some white paint. Is there a hard dot that I can super glue on to accomplish that or if not, are there any suggestions? Thank you!

I have seen some colored post front sights that are simply a Patridge sight with a 1/10" or 1/8" inch cube of red, or white, or something else attached at the top of the rear face. It goes flush to the top and to the two sides. It doesn't have to be that thick, of course, and might be less subject to accidental dislocation if it were only 1/16" or even less in thickness. This imitates the King Sight Company's red and white post sights of the late 1930s and postwar era.

No reason why you could not do that with something white, or gold, or stainless, or whatever. If you are handy, you might build up a mass of colored epoxy in the proper location, then pare it to fit with a razor blade or jewelers file.

I think that this is what David is talking about. It is on a 17-3 and I believe it to be factory. Here is a close up of the sight.

If you want to be fancy you can call it a "Call Sight" - there were some factory guns with this as an option, according to SCSW (it's in the glossary).

Depending on how much you want to spend, you could get a piece of brass rod from a local hardware store ($2-3) or a see a local jeweler about a small piece of 14-18k gold ($??). I'm sure the jeweler would be able to make it in the size and shape you wanted without any trouble.

A good gunsmith should be able to do that work for you. My favorite guy mounts a gold bead on the front sights. Makes it real easy to pick up and helps improve my groups.

He's called The Gunsmith, Nelson Ford in Scottsdale, Arizona.
