I just spoke with a S&W Customer Service Rep., regarding the recall and modification of my 581 no dash, no modification. He informed me that if the "firing pin isn't sticking in the bushing, and the trigger works fine" I don't need to send it in for modification. So, according to S&W ( Re 581-no dash) if it ain't broke, don't fix it. My firing pin isn't sticking and I have had no primer flow back or cratering. So, I guess I'll just keep on shooting and enjoying the pistol, without going to the trouble of sending it in. The 581 isn't my carry piece anyway. My carry guns are Mdl 642, Mdl 19 stubbie and Glock Mdl 19.
