Default M65-7 Hammer Bushing?

This is a new purchase, and while doing a little inspection I noticed the following, see picture. I don't own any other wheel guns, and found this one at a good price.

Does anybody have any preliminary suggestions before a gunsmith sees it? I haven't fired it, I was told that it works no problem. I have dryfired and it stung my finger like it should. I've found replacement parts, but can the bushing be replaced without any special tools, punches, etc?

Thanks for any help.

This is a prime candidate for a factory only replacement of the recoil
plate.

Whoa, let me read between the lines here.

I'm not the original owner, and I spent $375 to endure a big pain in the rear. How much more do I have to spend to make it right??

Thanks for the help.

That is erosion caused by primer leaks. This is neither a safety or function issue, and as you have been told before, don't worry about it. If the cosmetics bother you then send it S&W for replacement. The most expense will be shipping if you have to pay it. Call S&W Customer Service at 800-331-0852 and discuss this, they may cover it under warrantee.

Needs to be "pressed" in. I would send it back to the Factory if the looks of it bother you. As ALK8944 stated, the gun should still function correctly. I would be curious about what kind of ammo the guy who owned the gun before you was using. I must say, I haven't seen erosion that bad before (on a smokeless powder gun).
