I have a S&W M-581, old police turn in gun, as a project gun. The exterior has seen better days but the double action pull is as good as any I've ever experienced. My plan is to have the grip frame converted to round butt and have the cylinder machined to take full moon clips. I don't care for the full length under lug, if I wanted a Python I would have kept the one I gave my Son. Does anyone know if the under lug is solid or is it hollow? I would like to have it removed from the muzzle to the locking lug to give it a more classic appearance. Of course, total refinish of the whole thing when all the alterations are done. Comments/advice?
Thanks. Galena
